Very good experience. Nice group, engaging hosts. Interesting to learn about the intricacies of making pasta. Drink free-flowing, food excellent quality. Would recommend.

Overview

Put a Bolognese slant on an Italian food experience, with this small-group cooking class, hosted by locals who are passionate about their cuisine. After a welcome aperitivo of pignoletto wine and Bologna snacks of mortadella meat and crescenta focaccia, you’ll make tagliatelle pasta from scratch to accompany a homemade ragú. A self-made Casoni spritz is among the extra perks. Just note: This class isn’t suitable for children or anyone with special dietary needs.
  • Bypass the tourist food, and create a meal that a Bolognese would eat
  • Learn to create a Casoni spritz, an Emilia-Romagna region cocktail
  • Enjoy cooking in a sociable small group, limited to just 10 people
  • Discover newfound cooking skills and recreate fresh pasta at home

This was one of the best things we did during our 4 week trip to Spain, Italy, and Greece. Stephania and Stephania were great teachers and so much fun! Working together and getting to know the other “students” was the best part, and the drinks certainly didn’t hurt any as we made our tagliatelle together! The food, the wine, and the laughs made this a wonderful experience! We can’t wait to make our spritzes and pastas at home.

Making Pasta Fun

DelMonte_E, Sept 2026
A wonderful team of Luca and Kate made the experience fun and enjoyable. Luca was funny and engaging. I would highly recommend this activity.

Response from Host, Oct 2026

Luca and Kate clearly decided that making pasta should be as entertaining as it is delicious! 😂 We’re so happy that their energy made the class such a fun experience and that you enjoyed Luca’s sense of humour along the way. If you’re already planning to make fresh pasta at home, we’d say the lesson definitely did its job! Thanks for cooking, laughing and eating with us. We hope your homemade pasta experiments go brilliantly! 🍷

It's engaging and informative! The food was AMAZING. My partner says it was the best meal he ate during our 2 week Italy stay.

Response from Host, Oct 2026

The best meal of a two-week Italy trip? That’s quite a compliment for our pasta class! 🍝 We’re thrilled the cooking experience was both engaging and informative, and even happier that the final result earned such high marks at the table. There’s something particularly satisfying about sitting down to eat pasta you’ve just made yourself. We hope the recipes inspire a little Bologna-style cooking back home too!

Luca and Martina were amazing. From when we were greeted at the beginning to all the way when they hugged and kissed us goodbye, they were friendly, informative and funny. I’m not a cook, and even though I made it, the food was amazing (and the drinks). Felt welcomed just like you would if you were at nonna house for dinner. Highly recommend.

Response from Host, Oct 2026

Luca and Martina seem to have gone all-in on the Italian welcome! ❤️ We’re glad their warmth, stories and sense of humour made you feel at home, and the Nonna’s-house comparison is one they’ll be very happy to hear. And congratulations on making the pasta even if you don’t consider yourself a cook. That’s a pretty convincing success story!

Fun and informative

Tracy_L, Sept 2026
The cooking class was very informative and fun. Kate and Martina met us at the entrance and were great in leading us through the class with detailed instructions. In the end, we received the recipes for everything we made. It was clear that they were very experienced and were able to support everyone with different levels of cooking experience, and also they made effort to get to know each of us.

Fun time and learned the technique so we can make it at home. Kate and Phil were fun and excellent teachers.

Response from Host, Sept 2026

Fresh pasta skills to take home, plus Kate and Filippo keeping everyone entertained... sounds like a very successful cooking class! 😄 We’re thrilled that you enjoyed learning the techniques and felt confident enough to recreate them at home. That’s exactly what we hope guests take away from the class, along with a full stomach and a few good memories. Thanks for cooking with us in Bologna. We hope your next homemade pasta night goes brilliantly! 🍝

This experience was so fun and easy going! My friend and I had Francesca as our teacher. She was amazing! She had such witty fun humor and you could tell she loves cooking. She was so welcoming and never made you feel like you were doing something wrong! Even at the end of class she gave us recs on where to go in the city. You could tell she wanted us to have the best experience we could have in Bologna.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy! Both the instructor and her assistant were warm, patient, and made the class so much fun. Everything was hands-on, interactive, and easy to follow. What made this experience truly unforgettable was how incredibly kind they were to my son, who is on the autism spectrum. They naturally adapted to his needs, made him feel included, and gave him an experience he absolutely loved. As a mother, that meant more than I can express. Highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Bologna!

Response from Host, Sept 2026

What a beautiful review to read! ❤️ We’re so happy to hear that the cooking class was one of the highlights of your trip to Italy, and even more touched to know that your son felt comfortable, included, and had such a wonderful time with us. Creating a relaxed and welcoming environment for everyone is something that means a lot to our team, so hearing that the experience was so special for your family truly made our day. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with our instructor and her assistant, they’ll be absolutely delighted! It was a pleasure having you with us in Bologna, and we hope to welcome you back one day for more pasta-making and happy memories! 🍝❤️

Lucia and Jaya were our hosts and instructors. They were very organized, knowledgeable, and patient with our group. We will never buy store bought pasta again. Although we did not make the ragu, they shared the ingredients and plan to send us the recipes. We loved the company of our classmates from different countries and enjoyed eating our very own homemade pasta. Highly recommend doing this to anyone visiting Bologna. Greg and Shelley from 🇨🇦
