Top Meteora Climbing Tours

The Meteora are some of the most dramatic rock formations in Europe—ideal for a climbing outing if you have the gear and know-how. This small-group outing makes it easy and is suitable even for beginners. Meet your guide and instructor at the Church of Kimisis Theotokou, learn how to use the provided climbing equipment, and hike safely among ancient paths paved on cliff edges. Start your climb from the famous “needle” rock.

This magical Meteora tour is perfect for first-time visitors who want to make the most of their time near these magnificent rock structures. Opting for a private tour means you won’t have to wait around for other members of your party, and you can customize the tour based on your needs. See all six monasteries in Meteora and have a chance to enter some of them. You’ll learn local secrets and travel comfortably in an air-conditioned vehicle.

A private tour of UNESCO-listed Meteora from Kalabaka or Kastraki offers more flexibility than a traditional group tour. Explore at your preferred pace and choose which monasteries you want to skip or visit inside. Your transportation for the day is taken care of, and your driver also knows the best stops for panoramic views and photos of the area.

Hiking in Meteora without a guide may mean you miss hidden must-sees and history, or get lost. Make the most of the rock-pillar landscapes and monasteries on a half-day tour from Kalambaka with a hiking guide. Follow historical monks’ paths you might overlook alone, hear details on the area’s nature that many hikers miss, and visit one or two monasteries (own expense) on route. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.

Get set for an adrenaline-fueled water adventure and experience the stunning countryside around Meteora on this small-group guided rafting tour from Kastraki, Kalambaka, and Trikala. Paddle your way down the Venetikos and Aliakmonas rivers, tackle the technical waves, and soak up the scenery. No experience necessary, instruction and all necessary equipment provided, along with photos of the experience and hotel pickup and drop-off included.
