After three millennia of human habitation, the city was rebuilt three centuries ago as HAIFA al-JADIDA, when the country was independent and prosperous, Muslim and multi-cultural. Trek through time as we travel across town by foot and public transport, by bus and cable car, through the air and underground. Hear how New HAIFA was ruled by the regional empires of Egypt and Turkey, and invaded by far-off foreigners from France and India. See how the city became a hothouse for Islamic innovators from Persia to Pakistan, and how a science fiction novel authored by a Jewish journalist in Victorian Vienna inspired HAIFA's twentieth-century transformation into Israel's industrial capital. Explore what remains of the city's Palestinian presence, and how the ongoing struggles over the character of the country play out on the streets of HAIFA to this very day. Bring along a few friends and treat yourselves to a half-day SHATNEZ walking tour of HAIFA hosted by local journalist DAVID SHEEN.

This is the best tour I’ve created: a walk through 4,000 years of history that I call “Through Stone, Cross and Concrete.” We start with the ancient stones, from the gate of Ramses to the legend of Andromeda’s Rock. We move on to the cross, with St. Peter’s Church and the story of why Jaffa is holy to billions of people. We end with the concrete, the modern city that grew around it all. It’s a big storytelling experience, and the best welcome you can get to the story of Jaffa, Tel Aviv and Israel. What sets me apart is the way I tell it: real depth and knowledge, woven into one great story. You won’t just hear facts, you’ll understand how it all connects.

Let me give you a sneak peek into Tel Aviv’s street art scene. On this tour we walk through the neighborhood and look at the walls, the murals and the writing on the wall. But the real reason I do it is to show you the scene from the inside, because something changed here recently. A new wave of artists joined in, and they brought a lot of color to the city. The municipality gave up on stopping it. Now developers sell new apartments with the graffiti underneath. My tag is worth money today. I never planned that. Along the way I’ll share a unique kind of graffiti art that exists only in Israel, and only in this neighborhood. I’ll tell you who paints where and what the unwritten rules of the street are. Since October 7th the walls have changed. You’ll see sorrow, and also hope for better times, as the art comes back to life. I paint live too, and I’ve watched this scene grow from the inside. Come walk it with me and ask me anything.

Much more than a trip, a meeting with Israel My name is Daniel, French-speaking guide in Israel. For several years, I have been accompanying travelers who come to discover the country beyond the clichés, through its emblematic places, but also its faces, its stories, and its daily life. An old numismatist, I make it a point of honor to share the historical and cultural details that bring life to the places we visit. Israel is not just visited: it is lived. And every route is a new story for me to tell.
