Overview
A form of Balinese Hindu dance and drama, the kecak originated around Ubud during the 1930s, the brainchild of painter Walter Spies and dancer Wayan Limbak. With a beatboxing male voice choir and dramatic scenes from the Ramayana, a kecak performance is a highlight of any visit to Bali. Very good fire 🔥cleaning ceremony, deep. Good it’s not popular, so we still feel magic in an air.
After ceremony we felt super calm, like all the stress or anything negative was burned and cleaned.
Very much recommend to visit, specially after long trips
Also liked that it was not super crowded like in Uluwatu, so felt more intime, the magic still there.
It’s not a popular tourist place, that’s why the Temple feels very strong energetically.

I had read elsewhere that one of the must-do cultural events in Bali is attending a Kecak Trance Dance. This was a nice way to do it, with transportation and tickets included to take all the hassle out of it. I would recommend bringing some Indonesia currency, as there is a little cafe at the venue selling beer and other drinks. It's one of those experiences that I'm glad I had and would encourage others to do, but I wouldn't do it again. It's a very odd performance. It reminded me a lot of a Kabuki theater performance in Japan. Glad I went, wouldn't do it again.
