Great destination, average service.
We knew going in that this was a long tour (16 hrs, about 4 hrs each way between Cairo and Bahariya, then about 8 hrs in the desert with a lot of driving between sites. The vehicles were quite comfortable though. The desert was amazing, and the Bedouin House hospitality where we had breakfast and lunch was great. The tour guide barely spoke to us to/from Bahariya, and was unable to answer some questions. He was attentive and took the time to point out interesting things at the various stops on the 4WD tour in the desert though, hence the 4/5 vs 5/5 star rating. Overall this tour was well worth doing if, like us, you are mainly interested in the desert scenery and accept the long drive(s).

Exhausting, but worth it!
The trip is very long and tiring (4 hour drive out of Cairo to the desert camp, then several hours in a 4x4 car through the desert, and 5 hour drive back), but it is definitely worth it! The landscape is unique and extraterrestrial, very photogenic. Some of the guides were not very helpful, but our driver/guide Wahid was the King of the Desert! Very friendly and experinced, giving us a lot of information, stopped anytime we wanted to take a picture.
