What are people saying about Queenstown

Breathtaking Views, but a Very Swift Pace
The scenery at Doubtful Sound is amazing, and only RealNZ offers to see it. It is a professional and seamless trip with world-class views, though there are a few logistical things to keep in mind.
The schedule is very tight; the bus goes straight to the transit point with no stop-overs, leaving almost no time for washroom breaks, lunch, or souvenirs. Additionally, announcements are only made once, so you have to stay alert or you might miss key instructions while napping.
Overall, it's a great way to see a beautiful part of the world—just be sure to pack your own snacks and use the facilities before you board!

Definitely worth it
Had an amazing time on the day trip to mt cook and our tour guide was awesome and super friendly! Loved that we had plenty of free time to hike and explore the trails. Also we made some fun stops including a salmon farm where we were able to get fresh sushi as well as a fresh produce market for fruits and ice cream.

Amazing experience
Easily one of the best activities we did in Queenstown. The scenery was stunning, and our guide Max was so friendly and knowledgeable about LOTR, Tolkien, and Glenorchy/NZ in general. Getting to dress up as the LOTR characters in Fantastic Forest was a delight, and Max was generous enough to let my daughter wear Aragorn’s cloak for the rest of the tour since she liked it so much. Would recommend this tour as a must-do for anyone visiting Queenstown!

Amazing experience
We had the most incredible evening at Walter Peak High Country Farm and Cruise from Queenstown 🌄🚤
From the moment we stepped onto the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw, the experience felt special. The cruise across Lake Wakatipu was absolutely stunning — calm water, mountain views, and that peaceful golden-hour glow you just don’t forget.
But what truly made the night unforgettable was the effort the team put into celebrating my daughter’s birthday. They surprised her on the boat, which completely made her day — she was smiling the entire time. Then at dinner, they went above and beyond again, making her feel so special.
Dinner at Walter Peak High Country Farm was exceptional. The food was fresh, high-quality, and there was so much variety — something for everyone. The setting was warm and welcoming, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive the whole night.
Between the breathtaking cruise, the amazing food, and the thoughtful birthday surprises, this was more than just dinner — it was a memory our family will always hold onto.
Highly recommend this experience if you’re in Queenstown. It’s absolutely worth it.

Excellent wine tour
Fantastic tour and fantastic tour guide with Do at Altitude. Would particularly like to compliment Do on her thoughtfully curated playlist for the van, especially on the way back! The four wineries were amazing with plenty to taste along the way. Do's history and explanation of the wineries was also excellent. Strongly recommend this.

Great Wine Tasting
We had a wonderful afternoon with Emma who was a great driver guide. There was some flexibility in the types of wine we could try from each winery and we learnt alot. Emma was very friendly, approachable and ensured the tour was well paced. Will definitely recommend this tour even if you don't really know much about wines, like us.

Great Driver & Guide
I’m very pleased with Altitude Tour! Was picked up on time. Allegra isn’t just a great driver - she’s a cheerful, upbeat Guide with a wonderful sense of humor. Even with heavy clouds and drizzles, she kept spirits high with interesting information and jokes! A truly great personality!

Wonderful scenic tour of Queenstown!!
Great experience! Tour narrator (and Captain) Dan was insightful and kept the tour entertaining. Very scenic and informative tour! Refreshments available for purchase on the tour was a plus. Captain Dan took pictures of those wanting a scenic photo, as well as allowed a select few to steer the boat. Overall, a wonderful tour and experience!! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic 10/10
Really great day out to Milford sound! Matt was a fantastic driver/tour guide, giving us great information throughout the journey. The boat around the fjord was great, some amazing views. Bus was comfy and well air conditioned - great music played too - thanks Matt! Defo worth the money!

The Farm & the steamboat
The property is lovely and right on the shore of the lake. The afternoon tea was lovely and the pastries and cakes were delicious. The tour was a nicely paced around the farm and we learned lots about all the animals. The flower garden were an added bonus. Restroom facilities are clean and in the main building.
The ride on the steamboat was special. They spoke of the history of the steamboat and how they build it, disassembled, transported to the lake, and reassembled. It’s been running for over 100 years. Riding the boat is a must do. The farm is a nice option if you have some time and interest in a gentle afternoon strolling the farm and learning.

We did the half day tour...
We did the half day tour & would recommend!
Loved:
- Both drivers (Kerry & George)
- Mt Rosa (1 - small great vibe), Nockies Palette (2 - beautiful views & scenery), the Winery in Arrowtown (3 - so fun to dispense the wine ourselves and I think a really fun way to start), Gibson Valley (4 - could take or leave but I think it’d be better if we did a formal tour with them)
- we fit in 4 stops! Felt like we made good use of our time. Tour ended approx 5-5:15pm.
- drivers offered to call and make bookings for tasting when we got on the bus
- bus very comfy, not super windy or bumpy
Of Note:
- you get a timetable & map immediately upon getting on the bus. You need to be a bit flexible with the wineries you go to since you don’t have access to it beforehand. There must be some reason they don’t give it out but 🤷🏼♀️
- the stops are approximately 50mins so it’s fast!! You would definitely need to spend two spots for lunch in order to have enough time to get your food & eat it. Since we were the halfway, we ate beforehand and had plenty of time to get a cheeseboard, bread, fries, etc during one stop
Overall really fun & would do again!

A memorable day trip
We enjoyed every moment of the trip to Milford Sound. Thank you to Ivan for making this day such a memorable one. His stories and information shared along the way was informative, interesting and entertaining. And all the stops for photo opportunities were much appreciated, capturing special memories to take home.

Queenstown is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, which makes venturing beyond the town very tempting. Day trips from Queenstown make the most of its location within the mountains and near several wild national parks. Some Queenstown day trip options include cruising through quiet fjords, making the trip to New Zealand's tallest mountain, and flying above the southern Alps in a small airplane or helicopter for sky-high views.
