All through the woodland, trekkers will encounter endangered plants, for example, the Bois Chandelle and the Bois de Natte, and also an assortment of wild orchids and vegetation. Walking through you may see a White-tailed Tropicbird, an Echo Parakeet, or a little Mauritian fruit bat, called "Roussette", also an extensive variety of other endemic species.

Black River Gorges National park is the largest natural area in Mauritius and one of only two national parks in the country. Nearly all of the remaining old growth forest in Mauritius – only 2% remains – is contained within the park. It therefore serves as a refuge for many iconic and endangered species like the Mauritian Flying Fox, Echo Parakeet, Mauritius Kestrel, and Pink Pigeon. Your best opportunity to see these incredible animals is on the extensive, 60km in total, trail network that will take you to waterfalls, peaks, and pristine sections of forest. The park can be accessed from many different entrances.

Instead of booking separate excursions, experience Mauritius’ marine life three times in one day on this combination ocean adventure. Travel by speedboat to Tamarin Bay for the chance to encounter wild dolphins in their natural habitat, then stop at a popular snorkeling site known as “The Aquarium” to explore colorful fish and reef life. In the afternoon, head offshore to look for humpback and sperm whales in the open sea.
