Great Tour learning about Food and History
Amy led us on a very enjoyable and informative stroll through Pontocho St and Nishiki Market explaining the architecture and historical origins of these areas of Kyoto. We ate a delicious variety of different foods and Amy provided samples of a number of delicious things that we would never have known about otherwise. It was also great to have a guide helping us communicate with the market stall owners to get explanations of their wares.

Fun and educational tour with Saki! Kathy the tour guide is a must
We had an excellent waking tour in the Gion district with Kathy. We learned about the different areas, the history and where the locals hang on the river. We were taken to a few nice places to get photos. It was great experience, all while getting to taste some saki along the way. The group got along well, even in the sprinkling rain. Kathy made sure everyone had the photos they wanted and helped to make sure all questions were answered. I'd highly recommend the tour with Kathy

It will take you on an imaginative journey!
What an amazing show!! Such talent - we loved every minute from the second it started! We were taken on an imaginative journey. I went with my teen daughter and we both loved it. Congratulations to the performers for putting on an amazing show! It is on the 3rd floor of a narrow building with a few flights of stairs to get up. A fantastic theatre space!

Amazing local food & drink tour
We had a fantastic evening with Shumpei. It was great being taken around to the best food and drink spots by a local guide, who also adjusted the itinerary based on our preferences. We visited 2 izakayas and a whiskey bar, all of which we really enjoyed. We also loved chatting to Shumpei and learning more about various aspects of Japanese culture. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kyoto looking for an evening filled with tasty food and great conversation.

This was a really unique, special experience for us. Tourists don't always get the opportunity to speak with real maiko or geisha, but this event offered us the chance to speak with her authentically about her life, skills, and work. Our tour guide met us in advance of the tea house, so we were able to ask him any questions about protocol. He also served as our interpreter. While you may ask if you are allowed to take photos of the maiko, we were asked to not share any identifying photos online, to protect the privacy of the maiko.

Great Kyoto food tour!
Ryu was a great host on this food tour! We started with multiple delicious dishes at an izakaya, then took a lovely walk to Yasaka shrine while we waited on our next snack. Ryu explained about the Shinto religion and the meaning of the writing on the lanterns. Then our next snack was ready: pork cutlets on skewers! They were so crispy and delicious. Our last stop was sushi and tempura and that was phenomenal as well. Ryu explained about all the dishes we ate and how locals would typically enjoy them. Conversation was easy and enjoyable. This was a really delightful food tour and I highly recommend it if you find yourself in Kyoto!

Mia was a superb guide on our tour of two historic palaces, and the lovely garden next to one of them. She not only explained what we were viewing, but she also offered an historical and/or cultural context that was very informative. She answered questions knowledgeably. Although the palaces were interesting, Mia’s commentary really added to our understanding of these sites.

5 highlights of Kyoto and Much MORE!
This was an OUTSTANDING tour for Kyoto especially if you have only a few days. We were able to see SO much in just one day including rice fields. Biking thru streams and the Emperi gardens. Peter was a fantastic guide and we learned so much about the Shinto and Zen shrines. It was such privilege to speak to an American who has living in Japan for over 20 years! We LOVED every miniute!

Amazing performers!
Be prepared to be spellbound - I’m not sure if these people are actors or if they actually train in the art of the samurai or both but it was like watching small segments in a live opera but no singing! The narrator comes in and introduces the scene - usually a historical battle, then the actors come on and enact it. It was fantastic. They use real katanas too. At the end you can have your picture taken in the correct pose with a katana. I think it was one of the best things I did on my trip.
