Let us worry about the driving whilst you soak up the spectacular scenery as we amble along narrow lanes and through tiny hamlets along the North Cornish coast. Eventually we turn away from the coast and head toward Bodmin Moor. We explore this awesome landscape for a while before stopping in a hidden glade. Here the only sounds are the gurgling of the river, the breeze in the trees and the boiling of the kettle. Freshly made and served in bone China, you can choose from a range of teas supplied by the award winning Westcountry Tea Co, or coffee if you prefer. Fresh Cornish splits and scones are served with butter, a choice of home made preserves and clotted cream. Also on offer is traditional saffron cake and other fresh baked cakes. All locally sourced from independent specialist suppliers.

Along the way, you’ll pass well-known and lesser-known sites, including the Carn Kenidjack, which dominates the skyline and offers wonderful views of the western coastline. You’ll also visit an unusual inscribed stone which is possibly the burial place of St Just.

This self-guided Cornwall road trip is designed to show how the county’s coastline, historic towns and inland landscapes connect into one coherent journey rather than a collection of separate destinations. Instead of piecing routes together yourself, the guide links Cornwall’s most iconic touring routes — the Atlantic Highway, the Penwith Peninsula and the Fal River region — into a clear travelling structure. You can follow the full route across Cornwall or explore individual parts depending on timeframe. Along the way the guide connects harbour villages, Atlantic cliffs, beaches, maritime towns and historic inland landscapes that reveal the character of the county. Rather than a rigid itinerary, the guide provides narrative context, route progression and flexible time-based planning ideas so you can adapt for coastal walks, scenic drives and changing weather. With 12 months access included, you can start planning well before your trip and return to the guide whenever you need.
