Horse back riding has been on my bucket list for awhile. I did it and loved it. You don't have to know how to ride a horse. The horse knows the path and where to go which was nice. Bamboo rafting was amazing. I loved it. Our guide was very helpful and kind. He explained to us how the raft was made. We felt safe and special. Our transportation guide was awesome. He was patient with us. This excursion is a must do!!!

Felt like a shakedown

Both the horseback ride and raft rides are super short, and as many other reviewers have described, we were pressured to tip numerous people throughout the day. The horseback ride was no more than 10-15 minutes. A guide is assigned to each horse and walks right beside you out to the water and back. There’s no independent riding or cantering allowed, so look elsewhere if you’re an experienced horse rider. It’s essentially just a photo op on a horse in the water. After the ride, the guide harasses you for a tip. The bamboo raft ride was probably less than a mile. You initially raft down the river for 5 minutes and stop at a tiki bar. We were offered to buy marijuana and were offered to buy a limestone scrub massage on the side of the river ($40/half body, $80 full body). We declined the massage so we just stood around for about 20-30 minutes while other guests received their massage. Then we rafted about 10 minutes to a beautiful beach and had an opportunity to get out and walk/swim which was the best part of the excursion but we were only there for about 10-15 minutes. Otherwise we were taken to a gift shop to buy souvenirs and a restaurant that was suspiciously high priced (food allowance is NOT included in the excursion fare). Also, the rides take place in Ocho Rios which is about 1.5 hrs from Montego Bay but it turned out to be ~2 hr drive each way accounting for guest pickup along the way. We left our hotel at 8:30 am and returned at about 5:30 pm but only rode for about a total of 30 minutes on the raft and horse. On a positive note, the driver and guide were friendly and knowledgeable about Jamaican history. Overall though this is not worth the time or the price they charge.

We thank you for your feedback as we will have these help us to better upgrade our tours. We pick up in Montego Bay at 8:30am and this tour only last approximately 6 hours with traffic the longest. Base on your feedback your tour should only be 3 hours and 45 minutes including the return time to your resort. I would really hope guest will help us to understand what guest were doing for the other approximately 5 hours of the tour since guest stated that they were out for almost 9 hours. This feedback is not adding up but we will investigate since all other person have great fun. Also tip is customary on the island not mandatory but we will investigate this. Also base on all the positive reviews this tour seems great however we recognize that at times no matter how many good reviews we have the bad review tends to outweighs the good. We will take this one bad review to update our service so we can continue to offer quality service.

The driver was amazing. He made sure we stopped and got whatever we wanted. The horse backing riding was my favorite part but the whole excursion was great.

Beware: Misleading and Unsafe Excursion Experience in Jamaica

I booked the horseback riding and bamboo raft excursion in Jamaica, and it was a disaster. The 5-hour tour turned into 9 hours due to travel time and unauthorized stops at a gift shop and restaurant. The actual horseback riding lasted less than 30 minutes, and the rafting was only about 12 minutes each way. We weren't given helmets or life jackets, and locals harassed us to buy items during the rafting. Marijuana was offered for sale by the tour guide. The excursion time was falsely advertised, and the brief activities were not worth the money. I would not recommend booking with this company.

Thanks for booking with us. However base on guest resort in Falmouth the drive time would have been 2 hours round trip. The tour with the drive time should be 4 hours the most however base on the type of tour that guest describe, guest should only spend 2 hours and 30 minutes on this tour . Base on what the guest stated the additional 6 hours and 30 minutes would have been spend at restaurant and shopping and all the other 6 guest should have not enjoy this tour however they went ahead and place amazing reviews praising the tour. This guest that write this review had initially requested a full refund which was rejected and we provide evidence and feedback from other guest that did the same tour with them as to how great this tour was. Therefore this review was not from a true experience but it is solely base on the fact that guest wanted to unfairly get back their money after completing the tour so this is there way of doing things because they got no money.

Nice trek through a bit of jungle before getting onto lovely beach and being able to ride in the sea with your feet dangling in the water. Rafting was super chilled and intimate.

No Horsing Around

We enjoyed every part. From the drive to& from to the actual experience. The guides were really connected to us, ensured we had a good time& remained safe. I do wish they maybe do a quick tutorial on how to ride a horse& command, but I had beginners experience so my horse was easy to manage. All the horses were kind& listened. No mishaps, all fun.

The horseback riding was good. Felt very pressured about tipping them and I don’t think they were happy with tip. We didn’t realize the ride would be so long to the rafting facility. The rafting was not impressive very short ride and lots of stops for photos and the guide Jason was not informative. Was told stopping for shopping in Falmouth and we were only taken to I store. Found out from other cruisers there was tons of shopping in downtown Falmouth which we did’t get to see. We waited fir 45 minutes at port for driver and we returned around 2:30 much shorter than we were told. Pretty dissatisfied but your driver was attentive.

Thanks for the feedback. Your feedback helps us a lot to know what’s going on out in the field therefore allowing us to improve the product. This is the first time we get a report about lots of photos stops so we will surely address this asap. The raft should last 45mins to an hour and this includes a ride up stream and down to the beach. If this wasn’t done then guide didn’t complete the tour and we are grateful for this information as we want our guest to have a great experience. Shopping is basically all the same souvenir and Jamaica’s popular items so really don’t thing you missed out on much. The same sales persons goes around and sell these stuff to both the Indians which operate majority of the gift shops and also sells to the locals.
