My parents and I had a great experience with Bekjon! He took us to the butcher and the grocery store near his village, then brought us back to his family home to make the plov. It really felt like being welcomed into someone's family--we met his mother, his wife, and his nephews and made some delicious plov! He told us all about Uzbekistan and Uzbek traditions, and we shared some music on the way home. It was great to get off the tourist path a little bit and see someone's real life and home.
