This tour is perfect if you just want to see Uxmal and have most of your afternoon free. The guide picked us up at 7am and we returned around 12:30pm. He gave us a nice guided tour of Uxmal, helped us take pictures, and gave us more than enough free time to explore the site on our own.

A easy and great way to visit Uxmal and Kabah from Mérida. It’s a 1/2 day excursion so you’ll be able to get back in time for other activities and out of the hot afternoon sun. Our guide, Julian, was very knowledgeable, helpful and was eager to answer any question. It made for a very interesting day.

    A perfect tour

    Jeremy_R, May 2026
We are so used to tours that force you to go to a bad restaurant, a gift shop you have no interest in, etc, so when we found a tour that just took you to Uxmal, showed you around, and then returned you to Merida, we were really pleased. What we hadn’t really expected was the quality of the guide. Kumen picked us up from the hotel and drove us to Uxmal and on the way gave us a deep dive into Mayan history, engaging our questions with an academic level of understanding. We genuinely learned so much off him about the Mayan world, wider mesoamerican history and the Spanish conquest. His English was perfect too. Uxmal itself was also particularly impressive. The carvings are intricate and the main temple imposing. Like many people say, we much preferred it to chichen itza. It is much quieter with nobody harassing you to buy things, and feels truly secluded. This was probably the best experience we booked in Mexico so I recommend it very highly.

Fascinating morning at Uxmal with Rosendo

    Carol_W, Apr 2026
We did the early tour of Uxmal with Rosendo. We met Rosendo at 7am, picked up 2 more people and arrived at Uxmal around 8:30am, just after opening. This is the absolute best time to go to Uxmal! There is hardly anyone else there and the weather is not too hot. Rosendo spent an hour with us explaining Mayan language, heritage and culture along with identifying important aspects of the Uxmal site and relating some of the ancient stories - it's a lot to take in and Rosendo did a great job. We then spent an hour meandering through the site at our leisure. By the time we met Rosendo around 11:15, the place was full of large tourist groups and it was very hot. So do yourself a favour, set the alarm and go to Uxmal at 7am with Rosendo! You will be amazed. Thanks Rosendo for a fascinating morning at Uxmal.

    Well worth it

Very well organized tour. Dan was an amazing tour guide and driver. We got there early in the morning before all the crowds. Dan went at a good pace and was very knowledgeable and engaging. This was the perfect tour for us as it allowed us to have the rest of the afternoon to do other activities back in Mérida. It was an excellent morning and I’m glad we got to take this tour with Dan.

Kumen appeared very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Uxmal and Mayan culture. He was very attentive to our needs.

    Beverly_K, Mar 2026
The tickets at Uxmal will probably need to be paid in cash, as the credit card reader is spotty. Bring enough Mexican Peso for the ticket and the federal and local tax

Would not repeat tour with him.

    Peter_R, Feb 2026
Julian arrived 17 minutes late for pick up. He expressed plenty of knowledge about Uxmal. He made a derrogatory comment about tourists to Cancun while conversing with driver. Something to the effect "son unos pinché babosos que no traen dinero".

    Magical Uxmal tour

    Dan_S, Feb 2026
Our guide, Rosendo, was right on time to start our drive and tour of Uxmal. On the drive he prepared us for our tour with extensive knowledge of Maya and the Yucatán. At Uxmal, he shared numerous stories about Maya legends as he pointed out details in the ruins. We left feeling that we had a much greater appreciation and understanding of the riuins and the civilization. One of the best guides we have encountered. We highly recommend this tour.

A Trip into the Mayan World

    John_R, Feb 2026
Great half day activity. There were only 5 of us on this tour. Rosendo our guide was passionate representing his Mayan roots. So very interesting

    Outstanding tour

    Linda_W, Jan 2026
If you have an interest in Mayan culture, without any extra stops at beaches or commercial establishments (chocolate museum, etc) for shopping, then this Uxmal tour is a must. Our guide, Kumen, was wonderful. What he shares with the best tour guides at historical sights is deep knowledge and extensive experience that make the history come alive. But most importantly, he has a passion for Mayan culture and history that makes this tour a highlight of any visit to Mexico. Highly recommend!

    Uxmal 6 hour tour!

    Karen_M, Jan 2026
This was a great tour! Rosendo seamlessly switched from English to French to Spanish and kept us all enthralled with his knowledge of the Maya culture. David was a great driver. From pickup to drop off we had a wonderful time. Thank you!

    Day trip to uxmal

    Ann_M, Jan 2026
Perfect half day experience. Uxmal is amazing and our guide Resendo was great at explaining the big picture and small details with much character and knowledge. He was fluent in at least four languages and had a good u warranting of a few more. Highly recommend!

    A wonderful experience

    Glennis_M, Jan 2026
This tour was the highlight of my stay in Merida. Rosendo the tour guide was knowledgeable and kind, as well as being a safe driver. I enjoyed learning about the ruins in detail before the big tour buses arrived. It was a great experience.

Magical Site with Excellent Guide - Do not miss!

    Victoria_R, Jan 2026
Do not miss seeing Uxmal! Sami was an incredible guide with a unique perspective on historical "facts" and absolutes, and he was a lot of fun. This beautiful site is quiet, serene, void of vendors, and in my opinion better than Chichen Itza (but you need to see that, too!) I also appreciated that there are no "extras" (chocolate factory, etc) so our small group was on the road early and back in Merida in time for lunch. Thank you Sami and Guias de Yucatan for a magical trip and my favorite (and unfortunately last) day in Yucatan!

    Uxmal. Perfect half a day!

    Luciano_P, Jan 2026
It was exactly what we expected. We left at 7:15 and were at Uxmal at 8:30. The trip was very pleasant. The guide, Samuel, kept us occupied with info during a good part of the trip. He was excellent. Once we arrived there, no lines for the tickets, since the place was just opening. We spent one hour or so with the guide, Samuel, who, again, did an excellent job. He is very knowledgeable, and offered a lot of info. Then we could have 1 hour for ourselves to explore the place and take pictures. At 11 we were back in the van and by 12 something back to Merida, to enjoy the rest of the day. I must add that thew driver Marcus was also perfect, and provided us with a very smooth trip. Excellent trip.

    Fantastic Experience!

    Susan_F, Nov 2025
My trip was with a small group - 4 in total and a very knowledgeable guide. A really incredible experience. We left early and were back in Merida for lunch, just before the larger tour groups started to arrive. There is so much to see at Uxmal and it is incredibly beautiful. Lots of trees for shade. I'll definitely return on my next trip to Merida. Thank you Rosendo for your depth of knowledge!

    Best Tour of Uxmal!

    Maria_S, Nov 2025
I’m so happy I found this Tour of Uxmal! If you only want to see the pyramids and skip the extra stops to cenotes and chocolate factory, this is the one for you! Our guide, Rosendo, is actually of Mayan descent and proudly speaks of the culture and history of Uxmal. He was very engaging and shared so much knowledge of the architecture, astronomy and religious symbolisms of the Mayans you see all over the site. As an added bonus, he is an excellent photographer! Highly recommend!

    Awesome

    PARVIN_B, Jul 2025
Uxmal was mind blowing. I am in awe of Maya culture, their knowledge, wisdom, respect for nature, and skills of engineering, science and astronomy. Our guide Rosendo was brilliant and narrated many stories and legends to us that greatly enhanced the tour.

Great tour of Uxmal with Julian

    christinehafr, Jul 2025
We were looking for a tour of Uxmal without any « add-on » like Choco-Story or cenotes… the other criteria was also to leave early from Merida to avoid the heat and the crowds. This tour checked all the boxes, and turned out to be the best one we had during our trip in Mexico. Julian is very knowledgeable and fun, you can tell he is enjoying the visit and wants to make sure you learn something from the experience. He’s very professional and can address multiple questions about the Mayas or other sites. We were treated like VIPs. Would recommend 100%

    Great

Our guide who was also the driver was great. Very informative about the culture, history, and the local people. Enjoyed his tour, never felt rushed, saw everything at the ruins.

    What a wonderful...

    Hillary_S, Dec 2024
What a wonderful experience! Our guide, Victor, was so friendly and knowledgable. We arrived early at Uzmal and were literally the only people there. Weather was perfect and we are so glad we had this half day with Victor at this beautiful location. Thank you. Highly recommend.

    Highly recommend!

We had the best day yesterday with Freddie and Carlos! Freddie was a fantastic tour guide who taught us so much. He was great about answering our questions and his sense of humor cracked us all up. 100% recommend! Thank you for such a great day!

Thank you so much! We're thrilled to hear you had a great day with Freddie and Carlos. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Freddie. Hope to see you again soon!

    Ushmal, too.

    genki_h, May 2026
Thank you for the guide's perfect explanation and flexible schedule. Maybe it's better if the other person who was supposed to be on this tour doesn't show up at the meeting point, and if you have poor contact information and specify a more detailed meeting point. The text that came the day before and the time when I booked were different.

    I don't trust you.

    MASAHIRO_U, Apr 2026
The day before, I suddenly got a request to reschedule the game because there were too many people. Of course, we had a flight planned here and turned down the request for change and the service was carried out as it was, but our guide told us that today was a Monday and there were only two of us. The guide was a good man, but travel agencies must not lie. I won't be using it again because it has become an unreliable company, and my friends won't recommend it.

Ushumal is better than Chichen Itzúa

    Kuniko_K, Apr 2026
It was my first trip to Mexico, my first trip to the Yucatán Peninsula. I didn't know anything, and the day before, I went to Chichen Itzúa and it was crowded with tourists. Today we went to the Ushmar ruins and it was quiet and very nice. The guide explained it in detail and I understood it very well.

The excursion was really nice, our Rosario guide was really complete in his explanations we were a small group of five people. First we went to Uxmal, before returning to the archaeological site we were able to have something to eat and a quick coffee then our guide showed us around the place and its history for 2 hours. Then we had about 1h/1h30 of free time to visit the place by ourselves. After that we went home. The excursion is rather short but it is enough if you do not necessarily want the package with visit of cenotes and lunch.
