DO NOT EAT before going! Skip breakfast. Could not have been more happy with the authenticity of the tour. Great history lesson related to all things Mayan food. And it was all delicious too! Very hands on, would definitely take friends on another visit. Well done!

Very interesting and info. Great food the restaurant prepared. Food I helped prepare were great, as well. Ok as a solo experience, but probably better in a group.

Food is amazing and plentiful! Traditional food and explanation for everything. Great experience! This was a very hands on and participatory class. I’ve taken cooking classes all over the world and this was one of the best!

It’s difficult to understand the instructor, he speaks very fast. Good was great and so were the drinks. Very interactive

Great opportunity to learn about local culture and food. Juan was our educator and he was very thorough and funny

Nice cooking class in clean environment. We watched movie, listened and chopped and ate some delicious food. Very enjoyable and informative

The restaurant opens the door 30 minutes before the class so don’t arrive too early or you have to sit on outdoor benches and wait. Get specific directions to walk from cruise port. Know ur port location as there are 3 different docks depending on your ship. Ask VIATOR chat agent for your exact directions.

Just a few minute easy walk from the cruise pier to the restaurant. It felt very authentic. We got to make or help make out food which was fun and entertaining. I would recommend this activity.

Absolutely phenomenal food, fun, education. I’m home and have already bought Maseca and a tortilla press!

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon learning about typical Mayan cooking and preparation, a bit of history, participating in some of the process, and then enjoying a delicious meal freshly prepared by the restaurant… also a musical Mayan ceremony prior to the meal ….restaurant hidden away in a mall near the Celebrity cruise port called IXKOOL…simple decor,. Clean and modern, but the food had a history all its own. Highly recommend to take a cooking class or just stop by for a meal….

The food and drinks are great! Paco the instructor was fun and you learn a lot about different Mayan food.

Great, like-new venue (Ix Kool restaurant). Good blend of professional video background on the Mayan link, hands on demonstration, do-it-yourself, and chef provided additional food. 3 different drinks, and at half a dozen different foods plus dessert. Nice change from all the tourist traps. Only 3 of us at our class so nicely personal too. Very well done!

Top notch restaurant and top notch food .. good detailed instructions from the chef and staff.. more food than we could finish eating!!

Great experience learning about Mayan culture and food. Mix of having food you prepare and food the restaurant prepares. Instructor was good!

Very informative activity, in depth procedures and lots of hands on. Paco was great. Even made a margaritas

Juan and the Team at IX-KOOL made this a true culinary / cultural learning experience!! They take pride in sharing the authentic customs and flavors of the Mayans .... FANTASTIC!!

Cool experience and learned about the culture, some courses were amazing and others were good but a bit bland for us. Everything was super fresh though 😊

Great interactive activity for the whole family.. yummy food!! The instructions and class was well organized and put together for all ages.. highly recommend doing this tour.. small class size was also a plus.

They don't answer their phone and cannot be found. I messaged them that I couldn't find them and they didn't reply. Then they told viator that I should show up the following g day at 10am. That would have been fine if I didn't have any other plans. I've tried and tried and tried to reach them as has viator but get a voicemail that's never returned. I've even used other numbers.. I know viator can't 43ach them either. They're happy to take your money and disappear.

Very close to the cruise terminal. We were on Princess. 4 minutes walk from the gate of the dock. Cannot miss it

Excellent food with entertainment. I enjoyed the instructions and food. Salsa, guacamole, corn tortillas, 2 different soups and a dessert. Come very hungry.

The lesson included a comprehensive video, in-person instruction, and all of the ingredients and equipment needed to create several dishes. Other Mayan dishes were also included. It began with a Mayan ceremony and dancers. Links to ancient Mayan culture and the Spanish impact were explained. The food was delicious.

Spent a little over two hours learning about traditional Mayan cooking. We made our own guacamole corn tortillas and a type of smoked salsa. Learned about and tasted other great dishes and drinks. Come with a big appetite! Only complaint would be it was a bit hard to hear in the loud space. Overall thoroughly enjoyed it!
Marcia_H, Feb 2025
This wasn't much of a hands on cooking class. I enjoyed the more hands on and more private class I did a few years ago instead of a large group. The class started 39 minutes late waiting on cruise ship participates.
Jennifer_S, Feb 2025
Myself, husband and son all enjoyed this cooking class and it was a highlight of our trip to Cozumel. All of the food that we were served or made ourselves was excellent. It was unique and fun way to have a meal and we would recommend it to all of our family and friends that visit Cozumel.
Mark_B, Feb 2025
A culinary and educational delight! Learned many cooking aspects of Mayan culture, as well as enjoyed the dishes we helped prepare. Not quite as cooking involved as other such classes, yet still immensely enriching.
Rosemary_D, Feb 2025
This was the second time that I arranged for a group of friends to take this Mayan cooking class. The food and class were excellent again. Everyone enjoyed the experience and the food. However: 1) we booked a private class for 13 people, but there was another group there which stretched the resources (too many people at one time for one instructor); 2) please consider having all people who handle food for others (e.g., when making tortillas) use gloves because hand sanitizer isn't sufficient; 3) put a banister/railing on the very steep stairs going to the restrooms (they are too difficult for some people to manage and some had to walk outside for a block to use facilities; 4) the ceviche which we made in 2023 was excellent but wasn't on the menu this time. Juan is knowledgeable and does a great job; the film is informative; the chefs are excellent.
NANCY_K, Feb 2025
We got to make tortillas, guacamole and a tasty dip/spread with fire roasted tomatoes and grind pumpkin seeds. We tasted many other Mayan foods and they were all delicious.
Jacquelyn_F, Feb 2025
Great experience. Learned history of local food and how to make it.
Then we get to eat. Was tasty. Would highly recommend.

This was a nice way to spend 3 hours at the port. This is inside a restaurant in a shopping center. From porto langosta it was a $10 car ride and 15 mins to get there. We watched a video, saw a performance and did some light hands on assembly. They did the rest so you are NOT chopping, using heat etc. My only complaint is that they didn't have people wash their hands. This should be FIRST THING because we were all handling things together.
