Wine Food and Scenery

What a fantastic day! A beautiful 1.5-hour drive north of Wellington through some gorgeous scenery, with a couple of photo stops along the way. Our guide and driver was excellent, providing loads of interesting information about the region, its history and local area. We visited three vineyards and sampled over a dozen wines, with each stop offering something different. Lunch at the second vineyard was fantastic, making for a wonderful opportunity to relax, enjoy some great food and, of course, more wine! On the return journey, we also made a quick stop at a gourmet cheese shop, a lovely little bonus to finish off the experience. The tour was well organized, relaxed and paced perfectly, getting us back to Wellington by 5 pm without feeling rushed. A wonderful combination of beautiful scenery, excellent wines, great food and interesting local insights. Just a lovely day! Highly recommend this tour.

Seals Sand and Surf

An absolute hidden gem and one of the best-kept secrets in Wellington! This experience was a wonderful change from the usual crowded tourist attractions. It felt like having our own private beach, with seals lounging everywhere and not another person in sight. We didn’t even encounter another vehicle for over two hours! The private access road takes you down to a beautiful, secluded beach, with spectacular scenery and amazing views along Turbine Road. The drive down is an adventure in itself, with narrow, steep and winding sections. Our guide and driver, Graham, was extremely cautious and professional, making us feel completely safe throughout the journey. Graham was also full of interesting information about the area and its history. To top it all off, he provided coffee and snacks on the beach, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for something different, away from the crowds, with incredible scenery and plenty of seals, this is the experience for you. Highly recommended! Don’t miss this one when visiting Wellington.

Our tour guide was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and made our day! He took us around even when there was low numbers. Very much appreciate this company and this guide that they would take a group tour even if it was only us! A fun tour for movie fans

This was a fun tour especially for LOTR fans but we didn’t realize how many other films that WETA Workshop worked on. Our tour guide Nessy was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable - everyone in the group enjoyed seeing the props, techniques, and photo ops. The workshop is located in a neighborhood outside of the downtown area but we easily found a ride share both ways. Well done and lots of fun.

Was a great day the bus...

Was a great day the bus driver was really good and knew what he was talking about. Told us interesting stuff seeing all the other sides of Wellington that you might not get to was really good. The bus driver was really nice and friendly. Think the bus driver‘s name was Paul He was really good. I enjoyed what he said and he was really nice and helpful.

Awesome tour

Nathan was fantastic, driving us around in a luxury Mercedes van, taking in a range of sites and learning some interesting things about Wellington. We appreciated the way we were engaged and the tour customised to meet our particular interests. We left the tour feeling like friends who had enjoyed a wonderful experience together. Our only regret is that we didn’t plan to spend more time in Wellington on this trip, as there were so many places we would have liked to explore further.

Don’t miss the Wellington LOTR half day excursion!!!

So, so awesome!! Our drive/tour guide had been an extra on several occasions and was just had a wealth of knowledge. We were overjoyed with the Weta experience and our Guide there was a nerd—happily so—and yay! For us as he, too, lived, ate and breathed info about LOTR movies and Weta’s part in the productions. We will definitely seek out Viator excursions vs. cruise ship excursions! Thank you!!!!

Different times of day will significantly impact birds seen/heard. Twilight hours tour yielded great variety. Guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share her knowledge. Wish we'd had more time in our schedule to go through Zealandia and read more of the info on the signs.

We had an amazing time! Wayne was our tour guide for the beginning of the tour and he was exceptional. His knowledge of Lord of the Rings was absolutely amazing and we learned so much. Weta Workshop was an amazing tour and it was so interesting to see all the movie props. Stan was our tour guide after the workshop tour and he also had exceptional knowledge of Lord of the Rings. We couldn’t have wished for a better day!
