We enjoyed the hike very...
We enjoyed the hike very much but could have been more informed about the difficulty and conditions of the trail. It was extremely muddy and very rocky at the end. Our guide didn’t offer us water until we asked for it. It was beautiful but much longer than we expected

Nice adventure, not much wildlife though
This is a physically demanding long safari with plenty of uphills and (precarious) hanging bridges. The coffee and snacks provided once you get to the top were substandard for such a long walk. And a disposable rain poncho would have made a difference when it poured during the safari.

Great experience to learn about the local wildlife
I could not recommend this tour of Cocora Valley more highly, particularly if you are interested in birds and biodiversity. My guide, Robin, was extremely knowledgeable and spent a lot of time talking explaining the birds of the area. If you want to learn more about the local wildlife while taking in the breathtaking views of the Cocora Valley, this tour is for you.

  • Hiking the entire loop takes around 5 or 6 hours. Take a clockwise route for a gentler incline throughout the hike.

  • Remember to wear sturdy shoes; the trail is uneven and can get muddy, especially after periods of rain.

  • Bring a rain jacket and dress in layers; temperatures can change significantly with the altitude.

  • Guests who want to spend more time in the valley can camp in the area or stay in one of a handful of small local hotels.
