Excellent wine experience! We learned a lot about the various regions near Lyon, the types of wines made in each region, the flavor profiles of the wines, and things to look for when buying wines.
In addition to all of the information, our guide was fun, personable, and charismatic. The wines we tried were excellent and the charcuterie was great. Definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about wine and meet some other travelers along the way.

Great experience. Maddy’s casual style is not intimidating, but can be dialed up as much you want. She’s a wonderful guide through this delicious subject.

Thank you so much! She is wonderful!

We had the best afternoon tasting 5 wines from regions around Lyon with a local sommelier. We started with a sparkling wine and got to know the others in our group. Then we moved to the table for a blind tasting of 2 whites and 2 reds and enjoyed a charcuterie board with local meats and cheeses. Our family is gluten intolerant and they even had gluten free bread for us. It was a great way to experience more French wines from areas we will not have time to visit. Also fun to meet fellow travelers and interact in a social setting. Highly recommend!

Very informative and friendly, wine tasting. A very good choice of wines to taste. A tasty charcuterie board .

The space for the tasting is very cute, clean and welcoming. Directions to get to the building were clear. They welcome you with cremant, however, this is considered the burgundy that you get to taste which was REALLY disappointing. You do a blind tasting of 2 whites and 2 reds. Considering this was a wine tasting of the region, I was expecting more of a comparative tasting with more education.
We have done wine tastings in other regions of France and this one definitely fell flat, not to mention the price tag on the experience did not deliver to expectations.
I will say the charcuterie board was excellent!

Hi Justine, we advertise 5 wines, including Burgundy, Beaujolais, and the Rhône, which is exactly what you received. I am so confused that you were dissatisfied by the wines, which are awesome fine wines from artisan producers! Every menu has a Burgundy in the lineup alongside the crémant to start, so every single tasting, you are actually getting two Burgundies. And it literally is a comparative, educational tasting with 5 wines from at least 4 regions, every single time. We are very confused what you thought that looks like, if not what you received!

A very enjoyable activity. A local wine education while drinking wine - brilliant. The setting was in a lovely apartment and very relaxing. Our Sommelier was outstanding with her knowledge and humor. A definite must.

This is one of the best wine tastings we have ever done. Caroline’s knowledge of French wine is truly amazing and she selected unique wines that we would never get to taste without doing this tasting. Caroline is very easy to get along with and she made us feel very welcome. She also gave a an excellent suggestion for an amazing lunch which we also loved. This is a MUST do tasting for people interested in wine.

We enjoyed our wine tasting experience with Madeline. The setting was a former silk weaver’s workshop, now a cozy apartment. Madeline is very personable and very knowledgeable about wine. Our small, lively group of 6 tasted wines from Beaujolais, Burgundy and the Northern Rhone, starting with a nice Cremant de Bourgogne. The tastings were paired with a lovely charcuterie board. This was an informative, fun and enjoyable pre-dinner experience.

When looking for the address, look for a large ornate dark wooden door that has a 19 over it ( the 12 is faded out and looks more like 19). Was tricky to figure out because then you walk up dark staircase to second floor, and knock on door that says C. Connor. That’s where the host opens the door to a cool loft apartment that was once used for silk weaving. Nice presentation
Sitting around a coffee table learning about and sipping tasty sparkling wine. Then we sat at a long table set up with various wines and light cheese board and rosette sausage provided! Good representation of 4 regional wine ( 2 whites, 2 reds) to try. A lot of info provided and recommendations given upon request while visiting other places around Lyon. We had a very curious and conversational group. A well spent 2.5 hours.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Yes! We send these instructions to find us upon booking, it’s a hidden gem. Glad you enjoyed your tasting!

We have Madeline (I’m horrible with names) and she was 10/10. Knowledgeable, funny and was able to answer every question.
90% of the tasting is the instructor with the last 10% being the people who are also in the class and maybe we lucked out but it was a great time, full of laughs and was worth it.
Food was phenomenal, great snacks and the wine was delicious. Not snobby at all and lots of learning about French wines.
Would recommend to anyone who has the time!

We rode e-bikes throughput the Lyon! Wonderful bike path and felt we got to see and learn a lot about the city. Thanks Cecile for a wonderful day

Learned a lot abt the regional wines- but not overwhelming- just the right amount of information.
Our preference would have been to visit a couple of vineyards, but not an option as it was over the holidays and unavailable. We were so happy we did it this way. Took less time, understand better how to choose a French wine I like, and found a new wine we love. (Got complimented on ordering it last night!) The space is very comfortable and welcoming. Our guide was very friendly & knowledgeable. A GREAT experience. Look no further, just book it!

Our sommelier Julia was delightful and full of vino knowledge. We could not ask for a better wine tasting expert who was engaging, inquisitive and personable. The setting is a quaint living room vibe with comfortable seating. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cremant De Bourgogne sparkling wine - that is a go to from now on. We tasted white and red wines allowing us to explore several appellations and the differences between the whites and reds. Overall a great learning experience of Burgundy, Jura, Beaujolais and Lorie Valley regions. The French produce excellent wines--understanding the wine labels is another matter.

Merci!

This was an excellent introduction into French wine and the regions that each wine was created in. Our host Nicholas was knowledgeable, patient and kind. The wine was excellent, and the cheese/meat platter generously paired with the wines that were sourced.

This experience was a wonderful, fact-filled and tasty introduction to French wines. Our guide (Madeleine) was amazing and we were very thankful to get to spend this time with her. The education and the blind tasting was especially effective. We highly recommend this activity for wine lovers or those interested in learning more!

Absolutely amazing! The tasting was exactly as described, our host Ghjulia was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly and the wine and food were delicious! It was an intimate setting which made it that much more enjoyable. Given it was not at various wineries, the information provided was non-biased and we had ample time to discuss the wines in depth. We would highly recommend this tasting, it is truly one of a kind!

Great experience with Madeline! Super knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. Picked 5 excellent wines for us to try, all from different areas and gave the background on each. Plus the charcuterie board was first class. Highly recommend, much better than visiting a winery or chateau.

I have been to many wine tastings and this was one of the most educational and straight forward I have ever had. Margaret Rose took complex information and presented it with easy to remember tips that made so much sense. I would highly recommend this experience. Don't wait, just book. Viator was also very helpful with communication regarding times and addresses which made this experience even more enjoyable.
Jenn_A, July 2025
It’s a lovely afternoon and a great learning experience. Côtes du Rhône has long been my favorite, but I found the Cremant was so spectacular I went home with 6 bottles. So glad we added this to our short stay in Lyon. The walk there is steep, so schedule time to enjoy it. The flat is beautiful; the pictures don’t do it justice.
