A classic adventure at the End of the World, an accessible hike to an Emerald Lagoon. We will pick you up at your accommodation to start our trip to the National Route, where we will start our journey to the starting point. There we will get ready for a 4.5 km hike to the lagoon. During approximately 2 hours, we will cross lush forests, peat valleys, crystalline rivers and majestic mountains. Following the course of the Esmeralda River, we will approach our destination. The lagoon gets its name from the unique color it acquires thanks to the sediments of the Ojo del Albino Glacier, this being the best time of the year to appreciate it in all its splendor. While enjoying this breathtaking scenery, we will recharge our batteries with a delicious box lunch before returning along the same trail, allowing us to once again appreciate the beauty of the environment and discover new angles to capture photographs.

Available service for cruise passengers. For safety reasons, mountain clothing is necessary for this activity. In case you do not have the appropriate clothing you will have the option to rent. We get to the starting point by following national route 3 for about 17 kilometers; we begin the hike at the trail’s parking lot, which quickly takes us deep into the forest. The trail takes us close to a beaver dam and crosses the valley until finding a peat bog, where it will follow the Esmeralda river all the way to its source in the Esmeralda lagoon. After a final climb, we will get to the lagoon: frozen in the winter and dazzling us with its stunning color during the summer. If the weather is good enough, we will have lunch by the lagoon with a breathtaking view of the Albino glacier, the lagoon, and the surroundings. Afterward, we will take the same trail back to the transfer that will take you to your hotel.

In this trail of about 10 km (round trip) we will have the chance to experience some of the different environments that Tierra del Fuego Island offers us. We will cross the Fuegian Native Forest, we will get to know the important peat bogs and their beautiful reddish tones and we will walk through the imposing Fuegian Andes. We will also see the beaver dams and learn about the history of this animal introduced to the island and the impact on the native ecosystem. We will come across a variety of birds representative of the environments we will pass through. Finally, after a pleasant walk we will arrive at the Laguna Esmeralda where we will be impressed by its bluish green colour due to its glacial origin.
