Step inside Amiens Cathedral and explore one of Europe’s great Gothic landmarks through a vivid, story-rich self-guided tour. Begin at the west façade, where the carved Last Judgment unfolds with angels, devils, and the welcoming “Beau Dieu,” alongside scenes pilgrims once read like a stone manuscript. Inside, follow the story of Saint Firmin and the miraculous rediscovery of his intact body, then trace the life and martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist. Discover the brilliance of Gothic engineering —soaring vaults, flying buttresses, and stained glass that turns sunlight into narrative, filling the vast interior with colour and life. Along the way, see the angel-crowned pulpit, colorful Temple scenes, and a chapel honoring ANZAC soldiers, including the astonishing tale of a bomb that fell inside and never exploded. Whether you are a history buff, architecture enthusiast or a solo traveller, this tour is for anyone who is curious to learn more about the cathedral.

2026 will mark the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, one of the largest and bloodiest offensives of the First World War. This battle lasted 4 and a half months resulting in 420 000 casualties in the British army, among them 360,000 were from the British Isles. To honour their memory, Get-a-guide is offering a “Taylor-made tour”. If you had a British relative who fought during this terrible battle; we will be pleased to research his service and design a full-day tour going in his footsteps. This includes visits to the major First World War sites in the Somme; such “Lochnagar Crater”, Thiepval Memorial of the missing and Newfoundland Memorial Park. As this work takes time, the tour can only be booked between now and the end of March, before the busy guiding season begins. If you are interested, please provide us with your relative’s name and any information you may have about them.
