Lovely boat ride to see the puffins. Sailed close to the island for some great viewing/pictures. I’ve been wanting to see puffins for ages, and got to see them in the air, water, and by their burrows! The weather was very foggy making whale sightings slim, but the crew kept us informed of the various types of birds and how they nest. Their ranges and life cycles along with some sea shanties! Very fun for the whole family or even a solo traveler.

This is a really cool way to do your own thing but also have guidance and a flow of historical information and learn about the land! The tour was about a 6 hour day from us, stopping only twice - once for lunch at the Edge of The Avalon restaurant, and once at St Vincent’s Beach for about 20 minutes.

We had a fun experience with the crew who were very accommodating and engaged with everyone on the cruise. We were lucky enough to see 2 humpback whales! The captain was able to circle around the whales for about 30 minutes so everyone was able to see them and take amazing pictures. We were too late to see icebergs but the whales stole the show! Awesome way to spend a couple of hours and enjoy the views of this beautiful island.

Overall an excellent tour and good value for the money We were picked up at the Alt hotel which was visible from our ship and a quick 5-10 minute walk depending on your pace. Hotel has a nice 1st floor lobby with a coffee bar, restrooms and seating. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Bus pickup is at the main entrance of the hotel on Water St. Tour was operated by McCarthy so look for a bus with that name. Our tour had 20 people and bus could hold maybe 24 max so nice size group. Pickup time was a little confusing as it said 30 minutes before tour time but it actually was the tour time so I recommend confirming actual pickup time. Generally speaking the amount of time spent at each site was appropriate and the drive between each site was no more than 15 or 20 minutes. Petty Harbor was a very nice 1st stop. Good overview of the towns history and good picture spots. Easy walking. Cape Spear was beautiful. A good walk up and down some hills and stairs but you can stay on the path if "hiking" is not for you. Restrooms and a coffee shop are available. Signal hill/John Cabot's lookout. Beautiful view of St John's harbor with a slight uphill walk. A local man had his Newfoundland dog with him and you can take a picture too. A small tip is a nice gesture but not mandatory. The lighthouse was interesting to see and go up top for pictures. Note the stairs are quite narrow. Quidi Vidi was our final official stop. Beautiful picture spots with a few small shops and Iceberg beer at the brewery is a good option, time permitting. Level ground for walking and restrooms available in the art building. Drove down Jelly bean row on the way back to our dropoff. Ellis our tour guide was fantastic. Informative, witty, punctual and communications were clear and easy to understand. We really preferred this tour compared to the hop on-hop off busses. When we were in St John's there were 2 cruise ships in port and the busses had more volume of people than they could handle. Granted this is feedback from only 2 fellow passengers but at some locations they waited for up to an hour for a bus that wasn't full and that limited the number of sites they could see.

She was very knowledgeable, bubbly personality which added to whole experience. Made sure everyone was following & she was heard, but towards end of tour that did not happen. So unsure of what she said. Providrd suggestions. Overall would recommend to anyone.

We met Adam at the designated meeting point and from the start, the experience was excellent. The weather was perfect and Adam was fun, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Throughout the tour, we learned about the history behind many of St. John’s iconic buildings, along with some fascinating local ghost stories and fires. Adam’s storytelling brought the city’s past to life in a fun and engaging way. The pubs included on the tour were fantastic.. Each stop had its own character and atmosphere, making it a great way to experience some of St. John’s local hospitality while learning about the city’s history. Although one of the pubs on the itinerary was closed for a private event, Adam quickly adapted and added alternative stops, which worked out wonderfully and showed his commitment to ensuring everyone had a great experience. The afternoon was entertaining, informative and full of laughs. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would happily do the tour again. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, fun and memorable way to experience St. John’s. Thanks for a fantastic afternoon, Adam!

We were so lucky to see minke whales before we even really took off! And after that, it was a party on the boat with live music, informative (and funny) commentary, some fishing, drinks, and screeching. The staff were so amazing, from the captain to the bartender, we all enjoyed the experience. HIGHLY recommend.

Highlights of St John’s are a must to know the history behind the landmarks and village stops We were very fortunate to have Denis O’Keefe as our driver and guide. His wealth of knowledge( he was the major of SJ for 12 years) is valuable and his pleasant unhurried manner was so appreciated!
