Lyon is the southern gateway to the Burgundy wine region, but with hundreds of wineries to choose from and limited public transport options, having your own wheels is a big asset. On this private morning or afternoon tour, get to know the Mâconnais wine region in a vintage Land Rover; visit up to four different wineries hand-picked by a local guide; and taste the region’s famous Chardonnay and other wines.

Board our vintage Land Rovers and let's head into the back roads of Beaujolais. We'll take you through the best of what Beaujolais has to offer: private medieval castles, wineries, local craftsmen, local producers (honey, cheese, cold cuts, truffles, etc.). Beaujolais has 10 crus (top wines); we can cover most of them in that full day. Lunch will either be in a local restaurant or on a picnic we'll set up in the vineyards. We focus on what we love, which is usually food, wine, anecdotes, history, architecture, and landscapes. We'll stop in a vineyard to open a few bottles of wine and taste local cold cuts and cheese with a gorgeous view of the region. All our rides are private and tailor-made, so we'll happily adjust the above to your centers of interest. So kick back, relax, and let us drive you to the best secret spots in Beaujolais! Note that we offer a premium pick-up in Lyon option or alternatively we provide courtesy return train tickets from Lyon, ride duration 35 mins.

One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to Philippe’s home, a former winemaker turned druid with a remarkable private wine cellar. Depending on your interests, your Insider may guide you to a hilltop chapel, medieval ruins, or a unique goat cheese farm in a former Cluniac priory and Celtic site — where the cheese is only sold on-site.
