Top Galle Self-guided Tours

Cooking with a local provides insights videos just can’t provide. Join your host and a small group for this Galle cooking class. Take a tuk-tuk to the Dutch Market, hear its history, and buy fresh vegetables, then visit the fish market for fresh fish. Next, learn about spices, how to cook rice, and how to make five different curries. Finally, eat a buffet lunch with your fingers, the local way.

Short on time in Galle? Then this private, family-friendly tour covers the city and its coastal highlights in one day, making it ideal for short-stay visitors and cruise passengers. Admire UNESCO-listed Galle Fort and Galle Lighthouse, trace the coast to the Hikkaduwa Turtle Hatchery and Tsunami Museum, and take a wildlife-watching cruise on the Madu River. Private transport and Galle hotel and cruise port pickup and drop-off included.

Galle becomes the crime scene in this self-guided detective game, where the clues are hidden in plain sight in the streets around you. The case is the murder of Balthasar, and the evidence is scattered across the old centre - past Galle Fort Old Gate, Historical Mansion Museum, Galle Fort Clock Tower and National Maritime Museum. You decode messages, photograph what does not add up and press digital witnesses whose stories never quite line up. Every puzzle you crack removes a name from the list of suspects. Play as a couple, bring the children along, or send two or three teams out at the same time and turn the investigation into a race - which is what makes this murder mystery game work as well for a team outing as for a day out. The last answer is waiting somewhere in the centre of Galle.
