Rent your own wheels while in Brisbane for a fun spin around the city that lets you set your own pace. Choose to rent a bike, rollerblades or scooter from the friendly staff at the Kangaroo Point shop. Drive off the beaten path with the help of a guide to show the way on this scooter tour around the backroads of Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy. The spread of the Gold Coast hinterland—its vineyards, pastures, and forest—can only be taken in from the air, which is hard to arrange yourself. Drift over it by hot-air balloon at dawn instead, picked up first from your Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach accommodation. Come back down to a buffet breakfast with sparkling wine at a local vineyard.
