The holy village of Walsingham has been one of England’s most important pilgrimage sites ever since the 1061, when an apparition of the Virgin Mary appeared to one of the townswomen. The current Peterborough Cathedral was built after the Norman conquest and seen of activity since then and two queens were buried here including Katherine of Aragon whose tomb we will visit. From here we will make a short journey to the beautiful small town of Crowland which despite it’s modest size is home to two remarkable historical places of interest. The first of which is Crowland Abbey with its picturesque ruins and often dramatic history. Nearby is the unique medieval Trinity Bridge, said to be the biggest curiously in the country.
