A NZ cultural experience not to miss
Shuttle buses are available from the tender (boat) drop of point, however it is a only a 10-15 minute walk to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, if you prefer this option. It was a wonderful cultural experience, we were all warmly welcomed. I Highly recommend a visit.

Awesome experience!
Loved this experience. We went to one in rotorua and liked this a lot better as it was more authentic. People were fabulous and it was also lovely to meet other travelers at the dinner

A must see when in bay of islands
Had an amazing time, lucky enough to have seen the 12pm performance which was great. The house was great to walk through and get an understanding of the history. There was a coffee cart nearby for a pick me up. The museum is a must see, it is perfectly set up. The gift shop had amazing items to purchase, great selection. Cafe on site as well if you are peckish afterwards. A must see.

Waitangi Treaty centre was so interesting such big part New Zealand history
The boat trip around Bay of Island so beautiful as dolphins followed the boat .
The bus trip was a long way to see a lighthouse but helped by the great commentary by the bus driver about the countryside and New Zealand life

Good way to visit the...
Good way to visit the area if you don’t have a car. Really enjoyed the cultural experience. Our guide Mary was brilliant and really looked after us. All in all felt the tour was expensive for what it was though.

Great for history, less so for an authentic cultural experience
A hour guided tour of the treaty ground followed by a 30 minute Maori dance - not a haka, just a dance. The museum is excellent and plan on devoting at least an hour to it to get an understanding of the relationship between the Maori and the British. Our guide was very good. The dance does not seem to be authentic, at least as not compared to the one we saw at the War Memorial in Auckland. The largest waka - canoe - in existence. Definitely worth the time and money

The Waitangi Treaty Grounds
We liked learning about some of the Māori people and experiencing some of the tribal ways. And we liked that you could come back over a few days to do your experience.
